MSU is one of the top research universities in the world, on one of the biggest, greenest campuses in the nation. In both ways practical and profound, MSU students work to create a stronger, more sustainable, and more hopeful future for all.
The dietetics program at Michigan State is among the largest in the United States and is one of the first established. The courses for dietetics are strictly sequenced which allows students to build upon previous knowledge. Students are also advised to select elective courses to develop special interests. I have found during my dietetic internship that the dietetics program at MSU prepared me incredibly well for my internship and for my future as a professional.
Study Abroad: International Foods Laws, UK, France, Switzerland, Italy
Michigan State has a long history of international engagement and has led the nation in study abroad participation. During my study abroad experience I studied international food laws in the European Union. We took a 22 day trip across Europe, starting in London and ending in Rome. This program incorporated compelling subject matter with unforgettable moments and long lasting friendships. The combination of experience and education allowed me to reach a completely new level of learning. Through cultural engagement, speakers, visits of the FAO and WTO and constant exposure to real life examples, this program allowed me to grow as a person and future professional. I feel confident in my knowledge concerning regulatory food laws of both the US and the EU due to this amazing program.

Vice President, MSU Food and Nutrition Association
The Food and Nutrition Association at Michigan State is an organization that helps students build relationships with other students in Dietetics and also connects students to professionals. This club provides a wide range of experiences, such as the annual trip to the Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo to community service projects in the Greater Lansing area for incoming freshman, graduating seniors, and everyone in between. As Vice President during the 2012-2013 school year, I organized the trip to Philadelphia for FNCE for anyone who wanted to come. We had 45 students commit to going and I booked hotel rooms, rented vans, wrote a travel itinerary, prepared info about the conference for everyone, and more. It was a successful, informational, and fun trip and I am very proud of myself for planning it all so well. I had many responsibilities as Vice President, however, my next biggest project was planning the annual Healthy Hustle 5K race. The event raised money for a local charity and also for the club to help reimburse students for the trip to FNCE. I delegated responsibilities to other members of the group in donations, t-shirt design and procurement, and marketing for the race, while I set up the logistics.
